Your Social Security number is your identity according to the government. When I was younger, my dad had me memorize it. I thought that was a normal thing for everyone to do. When I got older, I asked my friends if they memorized their social security number. Some said yes and some said that they did not even know it or where their card was.

I think that everyone should memorize their social security number because you never know when you are going to need it, and as you get older, you need to have it for many things. For example, when a person opens a bank account, they need their social security number. When a person wants to travel to another country, they have to get a passport, and when you get a passport, you have to have your social security number. Credit card companies sometimes ask for it, and sometimes you have to give it to colleges and universities when you apply. Sometimes even jobs ask for it.

A person should not always carry their social security card with them because it can then get easily stolen or lost. If you are going to have to use it a lot when you are older, then you should memorize it when you are young, so that you do not risk anything. Although, I think if a person is going to a very official place and they have to have their social security number, then they should bring it with them because it is very bad to get it wrong.

Besides, it is only nine digits, which is one number less than a phone number. Almost everyone knows their own phone number, so why not just memorize it as if it was a phone number?

I think it is a very good idea for people to memorize their social security number, especially by high school. I think this because as we are getting closer and closer to adulthood, we will need it for many things. If everyone memorizes their social security number, it will just be easier for them and not have to worry about having to always have it in case if you might need it one day.
