Cthulhu beckons

Leon Giron, Reporter

“The Thing cannot be described – there is no language for such abysms of shrieking and immemorial lunacy, such eldritch contradictions of all matter, force, and cosmic order. A mountain walked or stumbled.” “Call of Cthulhu” by H.P. Lovecraft

One of the greatest aspects of Lovecraft’s stories is his depiction of the unknown. Cthulhu himself was never to be described as he is the essence of horror. He is an unfathomable mass in the mind that is composed of all fears. He is the darkness in the basement at night staring back at anyone walking through .

Though he isn’t seen the same by all, how he is depicted in the book is “…with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind.” Cthulhu is a part if not the most powerful of the Ancient Ones and is of the water element. He is thought to be imprisoned in the sunken utopia of R’yleh; however, the human race is not free from his malevolence as he is the darkness. He does not need to be in a person’s  presence to puncture his heart with utter dread; he is in the subconscious of all and through dreams, he can call one of us to him. So he still kept in the back of our races dark minds. To explore the beyond of the eldritch horrors read the books of H.P Lovecraft such as: “Great Tales of Horror”, “The Other Gods,” “Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H.P. Lovecraft.” Be entranced in the horror just in time for Halloween and tell friends about Cthulhu to spread the torment of the eldritch!
